I was a veteran technician with a CDT and 18 years of analog experience under my belt when I joined CAP to manage its milling center in 2013. Wow, what a career shift; the new digital adventure was a little scary! 


After all those years of perfecting my skills and feeling pride in being a well-rounded technician, along came CAD/CAM technology and zirconia. Why would I want to work with this high- value, chalky material? Layering porcelain was the only way to go for a lifelike restoration. 


Well, I can honestly say I’ve changed my way of thinking. With the development of some amazing zirconia and improved shading liquids, the sky is now the limit. Custom shades can be achieved with a micro cutback and porcelain layering and we have zirconia that mimics lithium silicate....
