Millennials: What They Want From You

Have you seen the viral video showing a millennial texting during a job interview and balking at an 8am start time? How about the Saturday Night Live skit with a millennial demanding a promotion after three days on the job?
In the media, millennials—defined as those currently between the ages of 21-37—are getting a bad rap, often being portrayed as entitled, lazy and smartphone-obsessed. But what about in real life—is this stereotype really accurate?
In our industry, the answer depends on whom you ask. Bring up the term “millennial” to some laboratory owners and managers and they immediately start shaking their heads, sharing anecdotes about technicians who show up late, don’t have a good work ethic and leave after two years in search of more money and a better title.
