A Look Inside a Floating Laboratory

During his Navy career in the 1970s, Mike DiPaulo, CDT, worked in a laboratory on a destroyer ship. Three years ago after retiring, he became a docent aboard the USS New Jersey, a decommissioned battleship and museum located in Camden, NJ. Excited to learn that the ship included a dental office and laboratory, DiPaulo asked the curatorial staff if he could help reopen them as part of the museum tour and they enthusiastically agreed. He began collecting old equipment and supplies from lab friends as well as donating some of his own items. While in town for LAB DAY East in October, LMT’s Judy Fishman and Laurel Carbonneau stopped by for a tour of the ship. Here’s a look inside:
