The myriad human resources apps available today enable lab owners to manage payroll, paid time off (PTO), benefits and personnel and, when accessed on mobile devices, offer on-the-go convenience and efficiency for the entire staff. Here are four ways lab operators are using apps to automate their HR processes:
1. Streamline communication: When Perfect Finish Ortho Lab moved to its new facility and quadrupled its space, the 23-employee team was feeling disconnected and communication was noticeably more challenging. One employee suggested they use Slack, a team messaging app they could all download and use on their smartphones.
Slack allows them to create channels tailored to different topics. For instance, the staff uses a Lab Communication channel for announcing new accounts, introducing new employees, special case instructions and to alert others if they’re running late or on vacation.
