Strategy: Educate Practices on IOS with Scan Bodies

We had had a few remakes due to poor intraoral scans and, although I can usually catch problems before I start designing, I decided to focus some effort on training assistants and doctors about scan clarity, especially when working with scan bodies.

Initially, I called the offices that were having issues and talked about techniques such as using X-rays to confirm the scan bodies are fully seated. We also went over correct bites and proper bite techniques when scanning, such as ensuring the patient isn’t over-clenching during the process. I also emailed images to them to point out common problem areas, which has been helpful in correcting the issues.

Since some of our remakes were due to the wrong or incomplete information on prescriptions, I also stressed the importance of getting the proper details. Sometimes I can catch mistakes if the scan bodies don’t line up correctly but with some, like Atlantis IO FLO, they’re almost all identical...
