Strategy: Half-Day Friday

Three years ago we switched to half-day Fridays—we work from 8:30am to noon but still get paid for an eight-hour day—and everyone loves it. We let our clients know about the change a month before we started and I can’t think of a single time any client has had an issue with it.
A longer weekend helps my staff members avoid burnout and gives them the option of scheduling their appointments or other activities on Friday afternoons so they don’t have to take time off if they don’t want to. And a bonus surprise to me: we are more productive at a four-and-a-half-day workweek than we were at five! Everybody finishes up their work on Thursday nights rather than waiting until Friday morning; this allows our cases to be quality controlled and sent out early the following day.
