Strategy: Focus on Technology

In a world where labor is becoming increasingly difficult to find, technology is definitely our solution to maximizing productivity. I never see technology as a threat but rather as an ally that can make us more competitive and improve how we process cases on a daily basis.

Our goal with technology is always to eradicate inefficient and unnecessary hand processes. For example, we’ve eliminated almost all of our PFM services; instead of pressing or layering ceramics, we mill multilayer zirconia; we no longer cast bars, we outsource complex bars to companies like Panthera or Atlantis and mill basic bar structures in house; and we print or use fused deposition modelling for our surgical guides.

We have team members dedicated to researching new technologies and materials. I keep driving them to always think about how we are currently doing things and how we can do things better going forward. I make sure they read LMT, attend LMT LAB DAY shows and keep...
