When the soft tissue architecture has healed, a record of the height of the free gingival margin will be recorded in the mouth (Part 2 of this article in an upcoming issue of LMT will illustrate this) and transferred to the silicone index and soft tissue model to modify the exact height of the free gingival margin. The customized healing abutment is reinserted back to the mouth. The case can now be sent to the laboratory for the final abutment/crown fabrication with predictable, soft tissue architecture.
