More Dentures Going Digital

Digitization of removable prosthetics dominated the last IDS in 2015 and this year the innovation continued.


Ivoclar Vivadent previewed its Digital Denture system, which will bring full digital denture production in-house later this year. Indicated for complete or single-arch dentures, duplicate dentures and immediate complete dentures, the process revolves around two material discs: the entire arch of teeth is milled as one piece from SR Vivodent CAD, a translucent material with natural fluorescence in shades BL3, A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B1, B3, C2 and D2; the denture base is milled from IvoBase CAD, a PMMA with high-fracture resistance and durability in four shades of pink. 


Design is accomplished with Ivoclar’s Digital Denture software; the arch and the base are first rough-milled separately and then easily cemented together using Ivobase® CAD Bond. The denture is then milled to final dimensions and...
