Intraoral Scanner Options Expand

Although dentists’ acceptance of intraoral scanners has been slower than many lab owners would like, manufacturers continue to innovate, offering units that are smaller, lighter, easier to use and more economical.
In addition to 3Shape’s new TRIOS 3 Wireless, several other companies announced new or upgraded intraoral scanners. 3DISC introduced its first intraoral scanner, the Heron™ IOS. The open-architecture scanner outputs STL and PLY files; is easy to use; features a small, sleek, lightweight, ergonomic design; and integrates with exocad software.
