Getting Tough on Remakes

I’ve just started digging into the data from our 2023 Remake Survey and thought I’d give you a sneak peek of our preliminary findings.

The sentiment that the bulk of remakes are beyond the lab’s control remains prevalent. Similar to our 2011 and 2018 Remake Surveys, our 2023 respondents say, on average, 82% of their external remakes are due to dentist error. As in the past, the underlying cause is most often an inadequate impression.

Given that remakes are an expensive cost of doing business and can wreak havoc with production schedules and client relationships, almost half of our survey participants track remake percentages by client.
