DLOAC Meeting Highlights the Changing Role of the Technician

"Today’s technician needs to be a technician, CAD engineer, materials expert and cutting specialist,” said Dr. Georg Schetter, Dental Concept Systems, Zubler Group, during his presentation at the DLOAC’s CAD/CAM Expo and Symposium October 31-November 2 in Garden Grove, CA.
Another new title: data analyst. The digital transition is not just about fabrication processes; the operational side of the laboratory business is changing too. As data generation increases, it can help make production more efficient and predictable.
“We’re still working with a mix of paper data and digital data which requires duplicate data entry. But once all the digital systems talk to each other seamlessly, laboratories will have even more powerful metrics to use in the lab on a daily basis. People will still be critical to the process but the data will be able to help people do their jobs better. Our operations will become data driven rather than pan driven,”...
