Topic: Infection Control, 1 CDT credit
Infectious diseases have become more of an interest in the dental laboratory since more advances in infection control have emerged.
This presentation is geared to inform the dental laboratory practitioner of
- exposure to the infectious risks
- prevention of infectious diseases
- disinfection, which products to use and which techniques yield best results
Presentation on occupational safety will be centered on a review of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Hazard Communication Standards. Topics of discussion will include
- history of OSHA
- political and industrial circumstances surrounding OSHA creation
- practical implications of OSHA in a lab setting
1 hour of CDT continuing education credits will be supplied at the end of the presentation.
Clinician: David Barthold, B.A.
David Barthold graduated with honors in 2006 from the Restorative Dentistry program at NYCCT. He has worked in both clinical and laboratory settings within the dental technology industry. In 2010 David joined the faculty at NYCCT as the Chief College Laboratory Technician for Restorative Dentistry, where he is responsible for all aspects of lab management, as well as safety training and enforcement.
