Renata Budny is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the New York City College of Technology, City University of New York, an Educational Institution and CDL in Brooklyn, NY. She earned an A.A.S. in Dental Laboratory Technology from New York City College of Technology, a B.B.A. in Management and an M.B.A. in Banking and Finance from Dowling College. Prof. Budny has been in the dental laboratory profession for over 16 years. She is a Master Dental Technician, American Society of Master Dental Technologists, and a Certified Dental Technician in Crown & Bridge and Ceramics, National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology. She holds a Certified Dental Technologist title, and in 2013, she became a Fellow of the Northeastern Gnathological Society. Prof. Budny is a member of numerous associations and societies, attending their meetings and seminars. Of those, she has served as a President for the Greater New York CDT Study Group (GNYCDTSG) and for the past eight years, with help from the Executive Board, she has been actively managing the study group and its Facebook page as well as organizing 4-5 dental seminars per academic year. In addition, she works closely with dental companies and lab owners to bring educational programs to the dental lab community. She is also a member of Long Island Dental Laboratory Association, American Society of Master Dental Technologists, and Northeastern Gnathological Society. Prof. Budny is a Long Island, NY resident for over 20 years. She has worked for the Department of Restorative Dentistry, NYCCT, CUNY since 2004 and her research includes dental materials, history of dentistry, gnathology and teaching methodologies. She stays well informed with the latest trends in the field by keeping active within the industry. She sits on the Board of Trustees for the Foundation for Dental Laboratory Technology and attends the DLT Educator's Conference held annually in Chicago. Other contributions to the profession include participation in the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Conference, serving as a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) Site Visitor and Curriculum Consultant, as well as becoming a CODA DLT Review Committee member. She has published articles in numerous magazines/journals including Journal of Dental Technology, Lab Management Today, and Inside Dental Technology. Prof. Budny was also honored in 2011 by Dental Products Report to be named one of the "Top 25 Women in Dentistry", and in 2014 she received the NADL Educator of the Year Award.
