It all started in 1919 when four Steinbock brothers—Edmund Sr., Clarence, Leo and Urban—introduced a groundbreaking casting system to the marketplace. It consisted of a refractory investment, burnout oven, air pressure casting machine and an egg beater-style spatulator that whipped and mixed better than any other product on the market.
One hundred years later, the $33-million company has stayed in the family, operated by third- and fourth-generation Steinbocks including Anne, Allen and his daughter Katherine. With an extensive clinical and laboratory product line marketed in over 88 countries, the company is still headquartered in Louisville, KY, where it was founded, and also has facilities in Ft. Collins, CO, and Dortmund, Germany.
