U.S. Lab Owner Wins Top Spot in Sagemax's NexxZr Plus Competition

Ryan Gottlieb, Owner, Gottlieb Dental Laboratory, Columbia, SC, takes first place in Sagemax’s NexxZr Plus Zirconia Competition, earning him not only bragging rights but a $10,000 prize. The second-place winner, Britta Andersen, Dentallabor Zahntick in Germany wins $5,000 and Massimo Fabbro, Oral Tecnica, Italy, wins third place and $2,000. 


Sagemax provided all 100 participants with a white NexxZr Plus disc, Sagemax staining liquids and an .stl file from a scanned model. Participants milled, stained and finished a full contour, six-unit bridge in shade A2 to replace teeth #9 through #14; they also etched in a unique identification number provided by Sagemax to assure anonymity during the judging process.


A panel of dentists and technicians evaluated all of the entries—based on translucency, natural esthetics, contour, innovative design, characterization and graduated shading—and narrowed them...
