Survey Snapshot: Digital Technology

The results of LMT’s State of Digital Technology 2015 survey are in! The following data is based on 160 U.S. laboratory owners and managers who responded to surveys sent via email and regular mail; 52% are C&B labs, 45% are full service, 3% are complete and partial denture labs, 51% are one- to- five-person labs; 27% employ six to 20 technicians; 12% have 21 to 50 people, and 10% have more than 51 employees.

Respondents rate their all-ceramic workload:
37% say it’s booming
43% rate it as good
15% say it’s stable
5% say it’s slow

Labs are relying less on outsourcing, more on their own equipment:
According to a comparison of our 2010 and 2015 State of Digital Technology surveys: the number of respondents who outsource the entire case has dropped from 47% to 20% in the past five years; the percentage who handle the entire case in house has increased from 20% to 38%.
