The pandemic prompted many laboratory owners to think about what they really want out of their business and their future. Some are considering an earlier-than-previously expected retirement date; if you’re one of them, here’s some advice about selling to a group laboratory.
While there are a number of exit routes you can take—including merging with another laboratory or selling to employees, family members, a partner or competitor—probably the most recognizable potential buyers are the group laboratories. They offer sellers the opportunity for liquidity and access to the resources and administrative functions of a larger organization as well as a means to continue their legacy.
