Scanner Adoption on the Rise in Removable and Small Labs

Three-quarters of respondents* to LMT’s 2024 Scanner Survey have at least one scanner in their labs and the vast majority of them are happy with their units, touting the technology for its predictability, accuracy and time and labor savings.


While scanners have become integral to many labs’ workflows, especially large labs and those doing C&B and orthodontic work, a comparison of LMT survey data shows adoption rates still rising in two specific market segments:


•  The percentage of removable labs with scanners has more than tripled in the past eight years; specifically, it’s increased from 13% in 2016 to 45% in 2024. More and more partial and complete denture labs are turning to a digital workflow, especially for designing partials and 3D printing dentures.
