R&E Tax Credit Program Update: New Regulations Could Mean Significant Savings

Is Your Laboratory:
- Experimenting with the latest in pressing, implants or CAD/CAM technologies?
- Researching different substructure materials for crowns, bridges and other applications?
- Testing new porcelains, composites, acrylics, alloys, investments and other materials?
- Developing new processes in relation to equipment, including milling machines and 3D printers?
If so, you could qualify for the Research and Experimentation (R&E) Tax Credit program and receive a credit of up to 20% of the cost of your research and experimentation activities—including the cost of labor—over a calculated base amount. For instance, if your lab’s gross revenue is between $2 and $5 million and you’re spending 10% to 20% of your labor costs on research and experimentation activities, you could receive a credit of possibly $50,000 for one year and upwards of $200,000 over a three- to four-year period.
