New York City College of Technology’s new eight-floor building in downtown Brooklyn sports a sleek glass exterior and modern features throughout, including a two-story lobby with floor-to-ceiling windows; red, illuminated reception desk; and a striking curved orange wall that serves as the entrance to a 1,000-person theater. The new building houses the Department of Restorative Dentistry and several other School of Professional Studies health programs, including dental hygiene, nursing, vision care and radiology.
On the building’s sixth floor, the Department of Restorative Dentistry’s three large “smart” laboratory classrooms feature sleek white benches and lighting; sophisticated AV equipment and projectors; sliding whiteboards; and wet labs for model work and investing, burnout, casting and pressing equipment.
A suite of administrative offices houses the 23-person department while other spacious rooms are dedicated to storage of equipment, materials and supplies. “Compared to the worn-out facilities we occupied for the last 72 years, our new space has been a wonderful and welcome change,” says program Chair and Associate Professor Renata Budny (pictured here).
