Two-thirds of our respondents to LMT’s recent poll* offer milled restorations; here’s how they’re accessing the technology:
• 45% handle all the scanning and milling in-house.
• 34% have a scanner and outsource the milling.
• 15% outsource the entire case.
• 6% outsource some of the milling to another laboratory or manufacturer.
Among those who have mills in house, 33% have one mill, 24% have two, 17% have three and the remaining 26% have four or more mills.
Remakes: Although half of respondents say milling has had no effect on their remake percentage, 42% say their remakes have decreased as a result of milling. “The ability to set fit, contact and occlusion parameters has helped us create a more predictable restoration with consistent fit and function,” explains Ken Becker, CDT, Owner, Becker Dental Lab, Herculaneum, MO.
