LMT on the Road: Scientific Metals

LMT visited Dave Weinberg, MBA, Owner, Scientific Metals, in Woodside, NY, to learn more about the company’s refining processes.

Accuracy and transparency are the mainstays of any reputable refining business and the foundation of Scientific Metals’ 30-year-old family-owned operation. “Each customer’s materials are melted individually, regardless of the lot size. This is more labor intensive but more accurate for the customer. To ensure transparency, customers are welcome to watch their scrap being melted,” says Weinberg, who joined his father’s company in 2005 and helped transition it from a regional Michigan-based operation to a nationwide one. The company offers refining services to dental labs, dentists and jewelers.
