How to Use 3Shape Automate's New AI Design Service for Nightguards

In September, 3Shape introduced 3Shape Automate for upper nightguards. Powered by AI, the design service—previously only available for crowns—allows laboratories to upload scans, select desired design parameters and receive design files back in as little as 10 minutes.


Users review and approve the designs, then fabricate the case internally or send it to a third-party manufacturer; design files are compatible with any open printer. While any nightguard material can be used, Keystone Industries’ KeySplint Soft and KeySplint Hard resins are validated for this workflow.


“The advantage of AI technology is that it performs in a very consistent manner with speed and scale. Labs can upload hundreds of orders at once and they’ll all be finished at the same time,” says Rob Laizure, CEO, FullContour by 3Shape.
