Restorative Challenge: A 33-year old patient presented with periodontitis. A few years earlier, tooth #24 had become mobile, had to be extracted and a bridge was placed on teeth #23-25. This bridge loosened repeatedly and frequently had to be re-bonded. There was a ceramic implant on tooth #12, and all four quadrants included posterior teeth with ceramic inlays or partial crowns as well as composite fillings. Horizontal bone loss due to persistent chronic periodontal disease in the posterior region was evident radiographically.
