The good, the bad and the ugly of 3D denture manufacturing are often topics of debate on social media, in study clubs and at trade shows, including the esthetic integrity and strength of milled vs. printed dentures. All of these are valid considerations given that we’re in the early stages of the technology.
But now that the FDA has cleared materials for 3D-printed dentures, more and more manufacturers are eagerly researching and developing new 3D-printing resins to offer new options to their digital denture customers. In addition, as more and more dental practitioners are investing in digital technology, the rate of acceptance of digital dentures will only increase, especially because they only require two to three office visits, saving valuable chairtime. Make no mistake: digital dentures are here, and here to stay.
