How to Deal with Improperly Disinfected Impressions

Although it’s been more than 25 years since OSHA issued its Bloodborne Pathogens Standard*, 80% of respondents to LMT’s 2017 Infection Control Survey+ are still receiving bloody/improperly disinfected impressions.
According to survey participants, the main source of the problem is untrained staff in the dental office. “It’s usually a result of staff turnover,” says Fay Ashley, Director of Customer Relations, New Image Dental Lab, Morrow, GA. “We can always tell when a new assistant is in charge of packing up cases.”
