Giuliano Moustakis Takes Top Prize in 2020 Master Cup Competition

Drumroll, please…the winner of Panthera’s Master Cup 2020 is Giuliano Moustakis, Giuliano Dentaldesign in Falkensee, Germany. Originally from Greece and a technician for over 30 years, Moustakis, who specializes in implants and complex cases such as telescopic dentures, defeated six other finalists to take first prize.


This year’s challenge: to create a complete case including a Diamart™ bar and a PEKKTON double structure for the maxilla and a Dolder bar with gold riders for the mandible. Participants were given complete instructions and all the materials needed to finish the case.


Unlike previous years, though, 2020’s Master Cup had an additional, unexpected challenge: competing during a global pandemic. Participants were initially given three months to work on the case, but the deadline was extended an additional three months in light of the difficult circumstances. “COVID-19 turned out to be, in some ways, a blessing in disguise....
