Fresh from LAB DAY Chicago: Musings from the Monday After

The LMT staff was proud to celebrate our 40th annual LAB DAY Chicago last weekend. What began in 1985 with 30 Exhibitors and less than 300 attendees is now the largest dental laboratory show in the world! This year, we had 296 Exhibitors and 4,786 attendees from 50 states plus DC and PR and 58 other countries.


An interesting aspect of the show’s growth: it’s becoming increasingly popular among dentists. In fact, 18% of this year’s attendees were dentists, double the percentage from 10 years ago. Dentists, especially those who do some of their own lab work, are eager to see the latest dental laboratory technology on the show floor and learn more during the educational seminars.


As always, we saw many long-time friends and welcomed new ones. We met nine students from the Restorative Dental Technology program at Durham Technical Community College in Durham, NC, who were so determined to make it to LAB DAY, they held multiple fundraisers...
