Fourth-Semester NYCCT Students Tackle Implant Case

With the ever-growing popularity of implants coupled with the increasing interest in implants among our New York City College of Technology (NYCCT) students, I decided to incorporate a single-unit implant case into my fourth-semester advanced crown and bridge classes; this is the first time I’ve introduced implants into our program. I wanted the students to understand and experience every step of the case, including both the clinical and laboratory procedures.
I decided to process the case using the “open tray” technique and used clinical impressions rather than ideal molds to give the students the most real-world experience. I chose a 3.75 x 10mm spiral implant with all the corresponding components which fit the parameters of the case perfectly.
