The financial planning segment of my life has always been the least interesting to me. Nevertheless, while still in my 40s, I did the responsible thing—or so I thought—and sought the help of a tax attorney. She set me up with a Will, a Living Trust, a Revocable Trust and an Irrevocable Trust but didn’t explain how best to fund them. On dozens of occasions since then when dealing with investment strategies, I’ve groaned to various financial advisors as well as my bookkeeper and accountant, “I don’t get it; please explain that again . . . slowly.”
