DTG Sponsors First-Ever World Mixed Dental Arts Championship

There was lots of drama as the clock ticked down on the final moments of the first-ever World Mixed Dental Arts (WMDA) Championship. Taking place at the second annual DTG (Dental Technicians Guild) Symposium in Provo, UT in August, the WMDA consisted of fixed and removable competitions, each with three timed, single-elimination heats and world-class judges. “It was the ‘Iron Chef’ of the dental lab profession,” said Von Grow, DTG Founder and Owner of Dark Horse Dental Studio in Pleasant Grove, UT.
During the Crown Building Competition, contestants built up a single central and had the choice of working with a zirconia or IPS e.max coping. GC Initial ZR-FS and LiSi kits as well as InVivo stains and Lustre Paste were provided, although contestants could also bring their own porcelain. Ibex Dental Technologies’ Dan Serrago generously supplied and set up 10 Summit Porcelain Furnaces and pumps.
