Doing Good with 3D Printing

Just as we were putting together the Product Focus on 3D printing materials for this issue (see here), a press release entitled, 3D Printing Technology Used to Build Schools in Ukraine Amid Humanitarian Crisis, popped up in my inbox. It explains that over 2,000 schools have been damaged and 330 were completely destroyed due to the war in Ukraine and, as a result, school attendance and student performance has dropped significantly.
To combat this problem, the Ukrainian government has teamed up with several 3D printing companies to print new school buildings. For example, in Lviv, the largest one-story educational facility in the world was just built with an on-site 3D construction printer. The building process took about five weeks and the new school is expected to open for 100 students in January 2024.
