Aspen Dental Provides Free Care to Remote Peruvian Village

Last June, 12 team members from different Aspen Dental practices across the U.S.—five dentists, two hygienists, two technicians and three dental assistants—volunteered to provide free dental care to residents of the remote village of Quiquijana, Peru.
Over the course of four days, the team treated more than 500 patients ranging in age from three to 86 years old. Most patients required extractions, prosthetics and/or fillings due to the significant amount of damage and decay.
The trip was not without challenges. One woman, missing all her teeth, came to the clinic and met Aspen Dental team leader Dr. Arun Srinivasan. Through a translator, Dr. Srinivasan was able to learn she hadn’t smiled in nearly four decades and desperately wanted dentures.
