PiCDental Enhances Full Arch Implant Impressions

Inventor Adrian Hernandez was on hand at LAB DAY to introduce his PiC camera that takes multiple implant impressions in under 45 seconds. Used as a complement to digital workflows, the PiC camera—which takes the images extraorally—captures precise implant positions and angulations and produces an open STL file. 

“This came about because my father had had seven implants placed and, when the implant framework broke, I went to the dentist with him to find out why. The dentist explained the difficulty of getting an accurate impression,” said Hernandez, who was in the aerospace industry at the time. “I understood that with an intraoral system the field of view is too small so images need to be overlapped in order to obtain the final file.
