Zahn Showcases Form Cell, an Automated 3D Printing Platform

“The Form Cell is the first commercially available automated 3D printing system for dental applications,” explained Gideon Balloch, Dental Product Lead at Formlabs. “It’s a cost-effective way to scale up production, reduce labor costs and enable 24/7, lights-out manufacturing.”


Available from Formlabs, the system accommodates up to eight Formlabs Form 2 printers and two wash stations and can be customized to your lab’s specific needs. Other features include:



  • Simultaneous use of resins for models and surgical guides; resins for temporary C&B, dentures and denture teeth are in development.

  • The gantry system has a robotic gripper that moves build platforms from the printers to the wash stations and to the rolling racks for storage; curing is done separately.  

  • It’s WiFi connected.
