5 Tips for Working with the Roland DWX-51D

Roland’s DWX-51D five-axis milling machine is an open architecture unit that’s easy to install, set up and use. Brian Brooks, Roland DGA’s Group Product Manager - Specialty Systems, offers these pointers for setting up, calibrating and maintaining the mill:
1. When planning an area to house the DWX-51D, keep in mind it’s a compact, benchtop machine (with a footprint of 19.5” x 26”) and weighs approximately 140 pounds. Be sure the surface on which you’re placing the mill is level, sturdy enough to prevent vibration and close enough to the computer workstation so that the 32’ USB cable can connect them. Also, to ensure proper calibration, the DWX-51D should be in an environment where the temperature is consistently between 41°F and 104°F.
