Master Course A- Design and Fabrication of CAD/CAM Bar, Screw Retained Hybrids: Tom Wade, CDT

Note: This event ended in 2018.

This course examines, in detail, the criteria and design considerations used in the “reverse engineering” concept as well as fabrication techniques for state-of-the-art CAD/CAM milled titanium bar prostheses for treatment of the edentulous patient.

The course includes an overview of implant-supported bar restorations offered by Nobel Biocare and hands-on participation in the use of NobelProcera design software for virtual custom Hybrid bar design.

Participants fabricate screw retained “resin base-bars” on which to diagnostically set denture teeth using Ivoclar Phonares II Nano-hybrid composite resin denture teeth. Proper positioning of denture teeth for occlusal schemes specific to implant supported restorations, which are critical to long term durability of the prostheses, are discussed. Detailed processing techniques for screw-retained hybrids (fixed-detachables), are presented and demonstrated using Ivoclar’s state-of-the-art “Ivobase” injection processing system.

Other considerations specific to this arena of technology are briefly reviewed including various design concepts and comparisons for hybrid bar styles.

The course also looks at Nobel Clinician digital planning software for strategic implant placement, and discusses the laboratory’s role, as well as the All-on-4™ treatment, including Immediate Load Conversion concepts from the laboratory perspective.
