For many technicians there are few things more daunting and at the same time more rewarding than the fabrication of a cosmetic smile make-over. This two-day e.max workshop focuses on the principles and procedures for creating natural esthetics for the smile design case with special emphasis on the techniques for establishing proper tooth contours and proportions. Additionally, it is designed to provide advanced layering concepts for individuals who are working with pressed or milled lithium disilicate restorations and ready to take their build-ups to the next level of esthetics. Attendees will fabricate an eight-unit smile design case restoring a combination of crowns and veneers. Esthetic layering techniques will be accomplished by using a variety of IPS e.max Ceram materials.
Topics covered will include:
- Lithium disilicate material science
- Smile design principles for both conventional and digital processing techniques
- Ingot or block selection criteria
- Processing techniques for all-ceramic restorations
- Preparing lithium disilicate substructures for layering ceramics
- Esthetic layering with e.max ceramic materials
- Creating natural contours and surface texture
- Proper shading and glazing techniques utilizing the IPS Ivocolor universal shading system
- Preparation for cementation
