Technician Creates Unique Service for CEREC and E4D Dentists

To help dentists reap the benefits of their chairside CAD/CAM systems, Christian Scull sets up in-office laboratories, establishes protocol and trains dental assistants to design and finish the units.
When Christian Scull talked to dentists who had invested in a chairside CAD/CAM system, he was struck by how many of them weren’t maximizing the potential of the systems. “The doctors had invested $150,000 in a system but, because they were the ones designing and finishing cases, they had turned themselves into technicians and were losing valuable chairtime,” says Scull, Co-Owner of Centric Alliance, a four-person in-office lab in Fort Worth, TX.
Their challenge sparked a business idea Scull has turned into a new service: focusing on milled same-day, single units for which dentists can charge a premium, he sets up in-office laboratories for CEREC and E4D dentists, training a dental assistant to handle the bulk of the work.
