Ottawa Dental Laboratory, Ottawa, IL, uses Goal Guru, an app-based program and digital platform that employees pair with their fitness trackers to easily monitor their physical activity as well as participate in company-wide, friendly competitions. 


“For example, we compete individually or by teams for the most steps taken. We can all see the leaderboard in the app, which includes everyone’s total steps and their daily average. You can even ‘heckle’ or ‘high five’ other contestants,” says Joanie Bretag, Sr. Vice President, Human Resources. “About 80% to 90% of our 172 employees in our four locations participate; we also set a daily average that we encourage employees to meet and those who do get entered into weekly drawings for cash prizes.”
