Pint-Sized 'Technician' Shows Flair for Dental Technology
Posted Dec 22, 2015
Six-and-a-half-year-old Helena Sofinski wanted something fun to do in the lab last summer, so her parents, Joseph Sofinski and Alisa Meheljic-Sofinski—Owners of AFX Dental Lab in Dewitt, NY—asked her to replicate an oversized clay molar with Play-Doh. Alisa told her to look at the lines in the clay molar and mimic them as best she could. Helena, who’s always been artistic, created a green molar in about a half an hour. Next on Alisa’s list is teaching Helena how to manipulate the consistency of porcelain. But while she’s interested in learning new things in the lab, Helena still doesn’t really know what she wants to be when she grows up. Right now, she says she would love to be a dog walker and thinks it’s “really cool” to be featured in LMT magazine.
