At LAB DAY seminars and the 3M Oral Care exhibit, attendees got their first look at 3M Lava Esthetic Fluorescent Full-Contour Zirconia that delivers natural-looking fluorescence in any lighting conditions.
The material offers optimized translucency for esthetic full contour crowns and three-unit bridges with a high strength of 800MPa*. “Finally, an indirect restorative that does not compromise esthetics while providing high strength,” said David Hornbrook, DDS, FAACD, FACE, FASDA, the first dentist to clinically place Lava Esthetic zirconia.
Lava Esthetic offers laboratories a streamlined production process: there’s no need for shading liquids or drying time, it has a short sintering time, and no special fluorescent glaze is required. The material’s high strength allows for conventional, self-adhesive or adhesive cementation; 3M recommends 3M RelyX™ Unicem 2 Self-Adhesive Resin because there’s no need to etch or prime.
