How We Started a Laboratory Staying True to Our Values

After working together for 18 years at NDX Oral Arts in Atlanta, we [Denise Burris, CDT, and Katie Blue] were bitten by the entrepreneurial bug and decided to go out on our own. Last summer, we opened By Design Dental Studio in Atlanta.


We knew each other well and shared the same work ethic and goals: to create a full service lab that incorporates digital technology while keeping a personal touch. We also wanted a working environment in which our team members can grow and thrive.


Our target market includes dentists who are looking to partner with a like-minded laboratory for high-quality dentistry and a strong commitment to continuing education, both technically as well as clinically. We’ve built our clientele largely through referrals, which is always the highest compliment!
