How this Director of Operations Keeps the Family Business Running Smoothly

Started in 1953 by Ray Nakanishi, Nakanishi Dental Lab in Bellevue, WA, is a full service dental laboratory now owned by Ray’s son, David. David’s daughter, Megan, Director of Operations, joined the lab in 2009 after graduating college with a degree in business. In the last 10 years, the business’ sales have grown nearly 40% without increasing its staff of 60 employees, a fact Megan attributes to leveraging technology and training strategically. Here’s a typical day in her busy life:

6:00am: My alarm goes off and I get ready for the day. After my much-needed cup of coffee, I scroll through LinkedIn to get my daily injection of industry news. Thankfully, I only live three miles from the lab so the commute is a breeze.
