Those words from a Tennessee laboratory owner probably sum up the last three months as well as anything else we’ve heard during our conversations with dozens of laboratory owners around North America.
As the entire world attempts to shape its collective new normal in the face of a pandemic, our own community is gearing up for an ambiguous future. As of the week of June 1, 90% of dental practices were open but 70% were still seeing lower patient volumes than usual, according to the ADA’s Health Policy Institute.
As a result, business was a mixed bag for dental laboratory owners, some of whom were watching cases start to trickle in and others who saw workloads quickly returning to near-normal levels thanks to pent-up demand.
