Focus on the Good

On the last day of September, the close of Yom Kippur—the Day of Atonement, the official last day of the year and the holiest of Jewish holidays—Sidney Nordhauser passed away. A kind, loving, hard-working, insightful and successful entrepreneur, Sid was my oldest, dearest friend in our industry and I miss him deeply. 

Together with his adorable and equally loving wife, Ricky, he built Nordent, supplier of a wide range of denture teeth, including his own private-label brand. Their plan was that their son would eventually take over the business but, in a tragic series of events, he became severely incapacitated in his early 30s. Devastated and broken-hearted, Sid and Ricky clung together to focus on what is good about life and, in time, with that spirit of survival and recovery, they painfully adjusted to their new family dynamic.
