CDT Program Gets a Digital Update

NBC has long been working to integrate digital technologies into its examination process for the CDT credential. In 2017, it conducted one of its biggest overhauls ever, launching tests with new and revised questions for all six specialty exams and revamping several of the hands-on practical exams to allow candidates to choose between digital and analog processes and incorporate newer materials.
Now it’s developing a new CDT specialty in Digital Workflow—the first new specialty since Implants were added in 2012—and the written exam launching next month covers data acquisition, design indications, fabricating restorations and maintaining digital equipment. The practical examinations for the Digital Workflow specialty are still being developed and are expected to launch in December.
