Last June, Alexander Wuensche, CDT, President of Zahntechnique, participated in the Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis event, an 80-mile paddleboard race from the Bahamas to Miami. Participants begin around 1:45am and the race takes 13 to 16 hours. An escort boat rides nearby to provide racers with food and water.
“My passion for competing in this race came naturally because of my love for the ocean. I spend every free minute on or in the water, surfing and paddleboarding. When I heard of this charity and the connection between cystic fibrosis patients and the ocean air and water, I knew this was a chance for me to give back,” says Wuensche, who raised $5,000 for the cause. In total, the charity raised over $600,000.
Inspired and invigorated by the experience, Wuensche is participating again in this year’s event.
