AI: Friend or Foe?

AI is everywhere and the pace of its evolution is astonishing. For example, we’ve been having some fun with ChatGPT, OpenAI’s latest natural language processing model. It taps into an enormous trove of data to answer nearly any question, write prose and interact in a conversational way. You can even tell it what tone to write in, such as sarcastic or humorous. It’s become a hot topic in the media and an internet phenomenon and got so popular so quickly that it overwhelmed OpenAI’s servers.


When LMT’s Senior Editor Maribeth Marsico asked ChatGPT, “how can dental laboratories get more business?,” it wrote 375 words in less than 30 seconds; here’s an excerpt:
